SIMPLE YET STRAIGHT TO THE SOUL

He was the love of her life - - her first and last. When Mom found out that Dad got lung cancer, she was in disbelief, in denial. She took care of him - - she was the best nurse there is. She was determined she could make him well....

The family sold everything - - jewelries, properties, fund investments - - to finance the cobalt treatments and chemotherapy sessions. When all that was left was the house where we live, Dad told Mom to stop and let go. Maybe he felt it was coming even though he was fighting it…. my mom needed him, the family needed him…

I remember it so clearly. We were woke up by Mama (my Dad’s eldest sister), and with her crying and praying the rosary, I knew it was the dreaded time. We gathered around him and I heard Mom say, “It’s okay, Jess. You may go. Kaya ko na.” With those words, Dad breathed his last.

I like to think that up to the end, Dad thought of Mom. He just waited until the time that Mom could let go and accept things. He was the greatest fighter ever with her love.

Oh my, I'm not going to be able to stop crying for a little while now. What a sweet, sad story. I'm so sorry you lost your dad, and so young too. This is a beautiful tribute though.
