EMBRACING MY DARK SIDE

Evil you say? LOL. ;o) Just hear me out why, but when I read about AAM's Challenge #2 with the prompt: What color am I?, hands down this is me:

Published at Scrapstreet.com Magazine's December 2009 Issue.

Journaling: Amidst the bright colors of my art, I am black. Elegant and sophisticated. Sexy and bold. Authoritative and serene. Have a peak into my box and let my darkness envelope you.

Supplies: Cardstock: Die Cuts with a View, Bazzill Basics Paper, Papers: Rusty Pickle, Teresa Collins, Urban Lily, Buttons: BasicGrey, Simple Joys, Sheer Journal Spot: Maya Road, Alphabet chipboards: American Crafts, Stickers: Making Memories, Heidi Swapp, American Crafts, Mesh: MagicMesh, Paint: Making Memories, Stamp: My Favorite Things, Satin flower: All about Scrapbooking, Other: Ribbon, gesso, pearl accents, felt flower diecut, butterfly cut-outs, handmade chipboard girl image.

I painted a handmade chipboard pattern after a Maya Road People Album with black acrylic paint Asphalt by Making Memories) and topped it with Magic Mesh.

I cut out the butterflies from the receipt envelope which I got from buying Melissa shoes (LOL!!!). Hey, don't blame me, they looked cool, right? The circle background are actually "stamps" using bottle cap dipped in gesso.

Thanks for looking.

P.S. First time to photoshop my picture like this. Thought I might as well go all the way and grab the first papers that looked kinda funky to me. Me look gory. Me likey. ;o)

I love how you did it devoid of color but there's still so much to look it. It looks so deep!

I think this LO is amazing! You normally use so much vibrant colour, and this is every bit as striking x

Janis, this is such a fantastic layout, I had to choose yours as my pick for the blog hop. It is really a wonderful piece of art that I "scraplifted" (according to the rules) and I'm so glad I did! I have never had my own page in the scrapbooks I create! This was fun; a little daunting, but I gave it a good try. You did GREAT!
