I chanced upon Journaling Junkie (journalingjunkie.blogspot.com) when Mia (see her work at miamcscrappy.blogspot.com) emailed PS and SE members about their ongoing challenge. Got curious and then I saw not only her take but also Super Idol Cabbie’s (see her work at cabbiejanescrapper.blogspot.com - - plus she’ll be guest designing for the next two months) and Liza’s (she’s on the DT like Mia) takes on the challenge. Wagi lahat!!!
So I had to try. The challenge (to commemorate October as breast cancer awareness month) is hosted by Annie and this is the sketch that you must use:
Along with this sketch, you must also follow these criteria:
1) the layout must be feminine
2) at least one pink item on the page
3) hand stitched flourishes
4) the universal woman symbol somewhere on the page
Feminine? If it’s feminine, must use pink papers (well, that’s the instant connection to my mind). I have this Basic Grey Sugared paper pack for the longest time - - maybe I can use some of its papers. You see, I have three BG paper packs - - Boxer, Sugared, Two Scoops - - along with other BG papers. The Two Scoops I purchased from Scrapbukan (at 50% off, that’s a no-brainer purchase), the Boxer and Sugared packs and the other BG papers I got as pasalubong from my brother and sister-in-law in Canada (Hi mga panget!!! Would you believe I’m blogging? LOL!!!).
Pasalubong? Yep, I specifically requested BG papers from them. I know Super Idol Cabbie uses them (baka maging magkamukha na mga LOs namin kung gagamit din ako ng BG!!!! LOL!!!! ) plus they’re more expensive than the other brands (hihingi ka rin lang, yung mahal na!!! harharhar!!!). But then, when I browsed at the papers, I found them to be too... artsy (can’t find any other term) and so, I felt kinda intimidated. I did not dare touch them… until this challenge.
So, feeling brave, I got some BG Sugared papers, flipped the sketch and made this:

Journaling: (not) – pretty little thing… possesses that sweet smile that can melt hearts of steel… talented (Karen Carpenter in the making)… a (barbie) doll… future beauty queen… you may be a lot of things but to me, you’ll always be Mommy’s princess….
Materials used: BG Sugared papers, DCWV cardstock, BG rubons, leather strip, chipboards, foam (for the woman symbol cut out), conchos and flower lace all from AAS, Thickers (jewelry box), blings, prima flowers, felt cutout flourish (used DMC brown thread for the stitches).
Not bad eh? Scraplifting is really refreshing…. What do you know? Mojo must have come back. ;o) (though I hope it stays until after my BKK trip this weekend).
